A 97-Year Legacy of Community, Culture and Creativity

Langham Court Theatre, located in the vibrant Rockland neighbourhood stands as one of the longest-running community theatre in Western Canada with our stage offering a powerful and immersive experience that fosters social bonds and community spirit.
Since opening our doors in 1929, Langham has delivered more than 500 productions from time-honoured classics to modern stories written by Canadian playwrights while engaging over 27,000 volunteers, and entertaining and inspiring over 250,000 patrons.
Our theatre also supports a wide range of performance groups, visual artists, musicians, writers, and community initiatives. In recent years, our stage has welcomed annual fundraising productions, literary celebrations, visual arts exhibitions, and live music – strengthening the theatre’s role as a vibrant cultural hub. A recent sold-out comedy performance by comedian James Mullinger marked a first in the theatre’s 97-year history. Lawyers on Stage Theatre annual performances have raised more than $70,000 from its productions’ proceeds donated to local charities. The Victoria Festival of Authors holds its yearly celebration of reading and writing on Langham’s stage. During each play run, the theatre’s lounge features an exhibition by a different local artist. Langham also collaborates with visual arts organizations such The Art of Humanity Project which featured the world’s largest canvas painting of Nelson Mandela and his artworks created while he was in prison. Live performances by musical artists have also provided memorable evenings.
Our popular Costume Loft, open for stage and film rentals, features vintage and contemporary costumes, accessories, jewellery, hats, bags, shoes, and more. The collection is also available for themed events, galas, Halloween, and other public rentals. Each year, culled items and donated pieces are sold in a major costume sale supporting the theatre, with unsold clothing donated to charity.
But Langham’s most valuable asset is its many dedicated Langham volunteers – acting, producing, directing, stage managing, building, painting, sewing, gardening, hosting, ushering, serving at the bar, or working in the Costume Loft. Sharing their time, energy, talent, and commitment to Langham, their enthusiasm for creating engaging community theatre is truly inspiring.
