Celebrating nearly a century of community, creativity, and Canadian theatre

Langham Court Theatre stands as the longest-running community theatre in Western Canada. Since opening our doors in 1929, we have brought together over 27,000 volunteers, more than 500 productions to the stage, entertaining and inspiring an audience of 250,000 patrons over the years.
Located in the vibrant Rockland neighbourhood, Langham delivers five high-quality productions per year. From time-honoured classics to modern stories written by Canadian playwrights, our stage offers a powerful and immersive experience that fosters social bonds and community spirit.
Our theatre also supports many other performance groups such as Reconciliation Theatre, Lifetime Networks’ Theatre Troupe, Lawyers on Stage, and more. The Victoria Festival of Authors has held its yearly celebration of reading and writing on our stage. Langham has also worked in collaboration with visual arts groups, namely the Vancouver Island School of Art, and The Art of Humanity Project which features the world’s largest painting on canvas of Nelson Mandela, as well as artworks created by Mandela while in prison. Langham has also supported musical artists. Local band Hounds of Cuchulain and international folk singer Grace Petrie have provided entertaining evenings on our stage.
Our popular Costume Loft is open for rentals for stage and film productions. Organised in 1987, it features vintage and contemporary costumes, accessories, jewellery, hats, bags, shoes, and more. The collection is also available to the public for themed events, gala affairs, Halloween, etc. Once a year, this collection is culled and, with donations given to the Loft throughout the year, a gigantic costume sale takes place with proceeds going towards the theatre. Clothing not sold is donated to various charities.
But Langham’s most valuable asset is its many dedicated Langham volunteers – acting, producing, directing, stage managing, building, painting, sewing, gardening, hosting, ushering, serving at the bar, or working in the Costume Loft. Volunteering their time, energy and talent, their commitment to Langham, and their enthusiasm for creating engaging community theatre is truly inspiring and adds to the vibrancy of the Victoria arts community.
