For over 40 years the Linden Singers have been lifting hearts and healing souls through fine choral music in Victoria. Beauty, collaboration, inspiration, entertainment: all will be on display in their new season under the expert guidance of Sean Lampard-Quicke (Victoria Arian Men’s Choir). A Celtic Christmas with Show-biz overtones and an audience carol-sing, Saturday Nov 28, Lutheran Church of the Cross, 3 pm; a springtime journey into Peace and Light, Saturday March 26, St. Mary’s Oak Bay, 3 pm, and a final pair of Concerts in May presenting Voices of the Pacific, Saturday May 29, St. Mary’s Oak Bay 3 pm, and Sunday May 30 3 pm at St. Mary’s Metchosin, will continue their rich tradition of vocal harmony and beauty.
One of the oldest mixed-voice audition choirs in town, The Linden Singers present a full range of traditional to contemporary music, often commissioning works from Canadian composers, and collaborating with guest instrumentalists. They are proof that singers become friends, but be assured, friends can become singers! Auditions for new singers are being offered, especially for male voices and altos.
With 30 to 40 auditioned members from diverse backgrounds, the choir is known for its musical excellence and strong community spirit. Caroling gigs continue to be a cherished part of the choir’s seasonal activities, bringing music to streets, seniors’ homes, and community events throughout the city. Rehearsals are held Wednesday evenings from September through May. While commitment is expected, members are rewarded with inspiration, musical growth, and plenty of fun.
