If you attended Victoria’s 26th Annual Ska & Reggae Festival this summer you’ll know that it was a historic year with a record 16,000 people attending over five days.
Now we’ve had a chance to come up for air, we’re back at it again! The success of the festival and the positive
momentum you helped us build has spilled into the end of the summer and into fall.
Our festival is much more diverse than its title and the shows we have upcoming are a reflection of that. Whether you enjoy ska, reggae, punk, funk, hip hop, soul or Latin styles, there is something for everyone in our summer and fall season.
We can’t wait for The Wailers Natural Mystic 30th Anniversary on Thursday, September 18th at Royal Athletic Park. For this show The Wailers will be featuring the 30th anniversary of their acclaimed compilation album, Natural Mystic: The Legend Lives On. Anticipate a full live rendition of this album alongside select tracks from the Grammy-nominated Evolution.
Performing before The Wailers will be Caleb Hart & Friends featuring Nostic, Janelle Reid, Sofia Leonne & Daniel Sar who will be playing a mixture of Latin styles, hip hop, R&B and reggae.
The show is all ages and licensed for 19yrs + with ID. Kids 10 and under are free with an adult.
The Wailers is just one of several unforgettable shows we have in store this summer/fall. While we have too many to list, here are a few not to be missed: The weekend before The Wailers get ready to ROCK STEADY at our Summer Ska/Reggae Party with The Steadies and Phonosonics – Fri. Sept 12th at Lucky Bar.
Saturday, October 4th Mad Caddies with guests The Corps and Dead Rights return to Wicket Hall with their unique blend ska, reggae, sea shanties, punk and Dixieland Jazz.
Sat. Nov 22nd Canada’s ska kings – The Planet Smashers come for a special all ages/licensed show at First Met Hall in support of their new album On the Dancefloor with guests Real Sickies and Gun Street Ghouls.
