Katy Bowen-Roberts, the Artistic Director and creator of the Yellowpoint Christmas Spectacular, began dreaming up this year’s show back in February, right after wrapping up Season 16. It’s been another busy and creative year of production, with over 60 pieces of music selected to form the backbone of the 2025 show. This year’s program covers a wide variety of musical genres, from 80s rock and disco to jazz, musical theatre, classical, and more. Expect a dazzling spectacle of music, song, and dance, all woven together with heartfelt readings and touching stories.
In June, Katy, James Mark (Music Director & Arranger), and Lindsay Sterk (Co-Director & Choreographer) traveled to Vancouver for live auditions. Over 130 talented performers were either seen in person or via video. “We had an overwhelming number of submissions this year, and the talent is fierce,” says Katy. “It’s such a privilege to be able to witness so many gifted young artists!”
Tickets for this year’s show went on sale on August 6th, and within the first week of the pre-sale, over 1,400 tickets were sold. Since then, it’s been full speed ahead with marketing, graphic design, cast accommodations (across three cities), artist and venue contracts, rehearsal spaces, costume sourcing, production planning, and much more.
This year’s singing and dancing extravaganza includes medleys of classic hits by Bobby Darin, a selection of iconic musical numbers from Mary Poppins and Frozen, a tribute to 80s rock bands, a disco set featuring Stayin’ Alive, a Canadian hockey segment, a festive audience sing-along, Bing Crosby’s timeless White Christmas, and many more holiday classics and beloved Christmas favorites.
Three weeks before opening night, a cast of 19 professional singers, dancers, musicians, and theatre artists will begin rehearsals in anticipation of a spectacular opening.
