Performing under the masterful direction of our musical director, Yariv Aloni, we welcome you to come and share with us as we perform works by Rossini, Chopin, Beethoven, Handel and much more!
This season we will have two new Choral leaders joining our ranks, Nancy Washeim preparing the chorus for the Messiah, and Gabriel Ferreras preparing and conducting part of our April concerts.
Also new this season, we will have two performances of our Fall and Spring concerts, one at the United Common in Victoria, and the second at our usual location at the Sooke Community Hall! Change is in the air!
Our Fall Concerts will be held on the afternoons of October 31st in Victoria, and November 1st in the Sooke Community Hall, and will feature Chopin’s Second Piano Concerto performed by Madison Brecht, winner of the 2026 Jenny and Norman Nelson Concerto Competitions for Young Musicians; as well as Rossini’s famous Overture to The Barber of Seville, and Grieg’s Symphonic Dances.
The Christmas concert will be on Sunday December 6th in the Sooke Community Hall, featuring our Chorus and superb soloists performing Handel’s Messiah, complete.
The season continues in 2027 wi th our famous Tea & Symphony on the afternoon of February 14th, and we are delighted to have Kira Gill, runner up in our Jenny and Norman Nelson Concerto Competition, performing the first movement of Beethoven’s Violin Concerto; and other musical selections sure to be a delightful accompaniment to sipping tea and munching delicious goodies provided by the Sooke Lionesses.
Our Spring concerts on the afternoons of April 10th in Victoria, and April 11th in Sooke, will feature our Chorus performing Frostiana by Randall Thompson, and the Orchestra will enjoy bringing you Brahm’s First Symphony.
Our season wraps up on July 11th with the “Sooke Philharmonic Fling” free outdoor concert in Ed MacGregor Park in Sooke, conducted by David Stewart.
The Sooke Philharmonic was founded over 25 years ago by Maestro Norman Nelson and enthusiastically continues to entertain our audiences with a great variety of musical experiences and outstanding musicianship by all participants.
