This fall, Theatre SKAM will welcome four local theatre companies to perform at the SKAM Satellite Studio as part of their brand new presentation series, the SKAM Satellite Series. From October 17 to 27, audiences can expect to see original productions from both COWBOY and Spec Theatre. Later in the season, from November 28 to December 8, SNAFU Society of Unexpected Spectacles and iuvenis Productions will take to the stage of the Satellite Studio.
Logan Swain, Theatre SKAM’s Artistic Producer, says this about the upcoming series, “As we look ahead to our 30th season in 2025, I’m thrilled to introduce a new presentation program: the SKAM Satellite Series. As a company mandated to support the careers of Victoria-based and emerging artists, it’s vital that we provide paid performance opportunities like this.”
This program is central to the ethos of SKAM. A long-time supporter of local and emerging artists, SKAM has produced the beloved SKAMpede festival for the past sixteen years. Unlike the sprawling outdoor festival SKAMpede, the SKAM Satellite Series will take audiences indoors to a more intimate setting. The SKAM Satellite
Studio, or “the Satellite” as it’s affectionately known, is a 40-seat black box theatre in downtown Victoria at 849 Fort St. Fresh off a facelift, in which SKAM has added new audience risers and overhauled the lighting and sound systems, the Satellite is primed to be the home of this new series and help realize the vision of the presented artists.
