This January, Victoria audiences will experience an electrifying comeback story like no other when TINA – The Tina Turner Musical arrives at the Royal Theatre. The West End and Broadway smash hit is a powerful celebration of resilience and triumph, tracing the extraordinary life of the woman who defied racism, sexism, and ageism to become the undisputed Queen of Rock ’n’ Roll.
One of the best-selling artists in history, Tina Turner earned 12 Grammy Awards and sold more concert tickets than any other solo performer. TINA charts her remarkable journey—from her humble beginnings in Nutbush, Tennessee, through her tumultuous partnership with husband and manager Ike Turner, to her meteoric rise as a global solo icon.
The show features a catalogue of her greatest hits, including Proud Mary, Simply the Best, Private Dancer, and I Can’t Stand the Rain. Behind the scenes, the musical was crafted by an award-winning creative team led by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Katori Hall, with Olivier and Tony Award nominees Phyllida Lloyd (director) and Anthony van Laast (choreographer).
Originally produced by Stage Entertainment, TINA – The Tina Turner Musical premiered at London’s Aldwych Theatre in 2018 before launching to sold-out houses worldwide. On Broadway, the production opened in November 2019, earning 12 Tony Award nominations, including Best Musical, and sparking a two-year North American tour.
Turner herself witnessed the impact of her story, attending both the West End and Broadway premieres, before her passing on May 24, 2023.
